Today’s students have countless career options from which to choose. The best career choice is very personal, namely a career that will use the unique set of skills, talents, and interests of an individual. Every career pathway requires preparation to have access to the best opportunities. The Shore Scholars program was developed to assist and support students at Forbush and Starmount High School to explore career options and then guidance and support to best prepare students for their chosen career.
Starting in 2019, the Shore Scholars Program is designed for selected rising 11th and 12th grade students from Starmount and Forbush High Schools interested in pursuing a degree or occupational credential and would like to benefit from a supportive peer group and a personal mentor who will provide encouragement and assistance toward their career and life goals. The program also provides supplemental financial assistance for Career and College Promise program students to pay for books, kits, uniforms, fees, and other expenses not covered by CCP. After graduation, the program provides last-dollar scholarships after high school graduation to continue their degree or credential-earning program. The post-graduation scholarships may be used for tuition, books, uniforms, fees and other expenses not covered by other scholarships, such as the Yadkin Guarantee.
